Florida Braces for Another Hit
Hurricane Frances, a dangerous Category 4 storm, is on its way to Florida, and is expected to make landfall as early as Friday. Current National Hurricane Center predictions still show a northwesterly track that could take the eye of the storm through heavily populated South and Central Florida. Hurricane Frances is expected to severely impact motor vehicle traffic along Interstate 75, Interstate 4, Interstate 95, and Florida’s Turnpike.

Commercial trucks, as well as other high profile vehicles, including recreational vehicles, are urged to avoid Interstates 75, 4, 95, and Florida’s Turnpike, and to seek alternate routes. State emergency operations officials are warning all drivers to seek shelter until the storm passes through the state.
Mandatory road closures along these Interstates are always a possibility in the interest of public safety. However, there are no road closures at this time. If any road closures are planned, the public will be informed as quickly as possible. Please stay tuned to your local news radio or television for updated information.
A statewide emergency information hotline is available at 800-342-3557.
