FHP Helps Sarasota Grandmother

Trooper Oman, Lucille Johnson and Trooper EdwardsWhen Sarasota grandmother Lucille Johnson told Florida Highway Patrol Troopers Reggie Edwards and Melissa Oman, at Kidz Fest 2004, that she was concerned her granddaughter’s car seat was not properly installed, they immediately offered their assistance. The eight month old granddaughter was due to visit from out-of-state and now, thanks to FHP Child Passenger Safety Technicians Edwards and Oman, she will be safe and secure when riding with her grandmother.

Kidz Fest 2004 was organized by the First Church of the Nazarene, located in Bradenton, Florida. Child Passenger Safety Technicians from FHP were on hand to instruct proper child restraint installation. The Rollover Simulator was utilized to demonstrate the importance of buckling up. The event sought to give kids and parents safety tips concerning occupant protection, as well as bringing the community together.
