Annual Police Memorial Service
The 22nd Annual Police Memorial Service was held on May 10, 2004 in Tallahassee at the State Capitol. Law enforcement officers from all across the state gathered to honor the memory of their fellow officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Motorcycle officers from throughout Florida, escorting surviving family members of fallen officers, led a march to the Capitol Courtyard. The Florida Highway Patrol’s Troop H Honor Guard along with their counterparts from numerous other state, county, and city law enforcement agencies around Florida participated in the memorial march as did several bag pipe corps.
Philip D. Cameron, President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Florida State Lodge introduced the guest speaker, the Honorable Jeb Bush, Governor of the State of Florida. Also present were various dignitaries and commanders from state, county, and local law enforcement agencies including FHP Director, Colonel Christopher Knight.
Governor Bush praised all law enforcement officers for their service daily to protect the citizens of this state and honored the memory of the seven officers killed in the line of duty during 2003 and one officer killed in 1935.
The solemn service included the releasing of butterflies, a 21 gun salute, Taps, and Amazing Grace played on the bag pipes. The Memorial Service concluded with a benediction and this tribute, “Well served good and faithful peace officer, may you rest in peace”.
