An Evening of Appreciation
Recently, Troop C honored the Tampa Bay Regional Communication Center Staff at one of Florida’s oldest restaurants, a historic landmark, the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City. On hand for the event was the TBRCC personnel, including shift commanders, Troop C and Tampa District staff, and representatives from the Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary
TBRCC Captain Bo Tharpe handed out door prizes, special recognition gifts, and service pins. This year’s “Duty Officer of the Year” award was presented to Duty Officer Tammy Davis and Duty Officer Karen Maginnis. Tammy who began her career with the FHP in 1998 at the Brooksville station, transferred to Tampa when the TBRCC opened. Karen joined the TBRCC in 2003. Both Tammy and Karen were recognized for their hard work, keen sense of officer safety, and dedication to the Troopers and the citizens of the State of Florida.
Duty Officer Supervisor Janet Gonzalez was named “Duty Officer Supervisor of the Year”. Janet, who began her career with the FHP in December 1978, was nominated by the duty officers for her positive attitude, leadership skills, and support that she provides. She continues to be the hiring and training coordinator for all new duty officers and call takers. Her work ethic and sincere dedication to the FHP is displayed daily and is seen by all.
The evening’s festivities, good food, and fellowship was made possible by the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary. Their generous contribution was appreciated by the over 100 people in attendance. FHPA Lt. Colonel Spence Price and Tampa unit Captain Mike Halfpenny were on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly, and a good time was had by all.
On behalf of the over 250 uniformed members in Troop C, we extend our thanks and appreciation to the TBRCC staff for making sure that everyone of us gets home safely each and every day!
