Trooper Shows Spirit of Season
Recently in Pensacola, Trooper Todd Carter investigated a crash involving a six-year old who had been struck by a vehicle when he attempted to cross State Road 292 on his bike. Joshua Ward was lucky. He survived the crash, with the most serious injury being a broken leg. However, his bike was a total loss. With this being Trooper Todd Carter’s second Christmas with FHP, he had already been thinking of donating a bike for a local needy child when this incident occurred. So, when he saw Joshua’s mangled bike, he knew what he wanted to do.
Trooper Carter got a few strange looks as he carried the new bicycle through the halls of the hospital. After a brief visit with the injured boy, Trooper Carter presented Joshua with the new bike. Joshua’s eyes lit up with surprise and delight! Several nurses gathered around–some with tears of joy and compassion. We are all proud of Trooper Todd Carter for his act of generosity and good will. He not only exemplifies the spirit of the season, but also the true spirit of the Florida Highway Patrol.
