Trooper Secures Guilty Verdict

Trooper WellsOn Wednesday, May 28, 2003, Corporal Charles R. Wells testified before the Circuit Court in Manatee County giving an excellent courtroom testimony, which was instrumental in securing a conviction on a DUI Manslaughter case involving a fatal crash that occurred in November of last year.

The crash resulted in one person’s death, three individuals who received incapacitating injuries, and one person who received a non-incapacitating injury. During the trial, Corporal Wells gave testimony to secure a guilty verdict against Amanda V. Gerack (age 24) for DUI Manslaughter, DUI with Serious Bodily Injury, and DUI with Property Damage. As a result of this guilty verdict, the violator received a prison sentence of fifteen years for the death of 70-year-old Doris E. Centers.

Corporal Wells is to be commended for his high level of professionalism in case preparation, courtroom testimony, and for performing his duties in an exceptional manner.
