Traffic Stop Yields Murder Suspects
On January 19, 2003, Trooper Marcus Brown was on patrol in west Orange County when a BOLO (be on the lookout) was broadcast for a white Dodge van that had been involved in a fatal shooting. Trooper Brown began checking vehicles, and a short time later, stopped a van matching the description.
The Orlando Police Department (OPD) was called to bring a witness to Trooper Brown’s traffic stop. The witness identified the vehicle and the two occupants as being involved in the fatal shooting. Upon a search of the vehicle, two handguns were recovered.
The two suspects were turned over to OPD and charged with felony murder. Thanks to Trooper Brown’s actions, two murder suspects were quickly apprehended.
