Traffic Stop Leads to Meth Lab
On January 8, 2003, Trooper Chris Ellis stopped a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am for a window tint violation on Interstate 10 in Washington County. Trooper Marvin Wagner arrived as a backup unit. A driver’s license and warrant check indicated that both the driver and the passenger had outstanding warrants.
A search of the passenger and vehicle revealed 4 grams of methamphetamine and a Crown Royal bag containing 50 grams of marijuana. Subsequently, the investigation led to obtaining a search warrant for the residence of one of the subjects.
The search warrant was issued and served by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, FDLE and FHP. A Meth lab and explosives were located on the premises.
