Tallahassee Regional Communications Center Opens
The Tallahassee Regional Communications Center (TRCC) opened its doors on Monday, February 24, 2003, after much anticipation. Soon, all FHP radio communications operations will be moved out of the cramped FHP station at 2100 Mahan Drive into the new spacious center.

The Florida Highway Patrol has been moving toward consolidation of its 45 communication centers for the past 7 years. The Tallahassee Regional Communications Center marks the 7th and final center to be opened.
Initially, only the Tallahassee Dispatch Center will broadcast from the new TRCC location. However, during the next 30 days, all of FHP’s dispatch centers in the Panhandle will be phased into the TRCC. The Madison Dispatch Center will move to the new location on Monday, March 3, 2003. Panama City Dispatch Center will move over on Monday, March 10, 2003, and the Pensacola Dispatch Center will join the others on March 17, 2003. When the transformation is complete, FHP troopers, as well as state law enforcement officers from eleven agencies will be dispatched from this single, state-of- the-art communications center.
Along with taking on the task of consolidating the communication centers, the Florida Highway Patrol–being the largest state law enforcement agency–will provide dispatch for all eleven state law enforcement agencies.

During the next 12 months, the TRCC will begin dispatching for the Department of Agriculture, Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Corrections, State Fire Marshals Office, Department of Medicare Fraud, Department of Insurance Fraud, FDOT Motor Carrier Compliance, and FDLE. The Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is co-locating with FHP and will use the new facility to dispatch their officers.
