FHP’s Top Trooper Patrols during Holidays
During major holiday periods over the last 16 months, Colonel Chris Knight has asked all available troopers and supervisors to discontinue office duties, and heavily patrol interstates, major state roads, and Florida’s turnpike, placing special emphasis on drunk drivers, speeders, aggressive drivers, and those who refuse to comply with Florida’s seat belt and child restraint laws.
During the recent Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, Colonel Knight patrolled the highways of the State of Florida in Manatee and Sarasota counties. He’s shown in this photo with Nevy Wilson, a Bradenton Herald reporter, and April Mertz, a TV reporter for Time Warner’s Bay News 9 cable channel, outside of the Bradenton FHP station. Both reporters rode along with Colonel Knight to write a story and shoot some photos of FHP’s “Top Trooper” in enforcement action.
