FHP Wraps Up Odometer Fraud Case
On June 24, 2003, Corporal Anthony Caserta, Jr., a member of FHP’s Bureau of Investigations Auto Theft Task Force in West Palm Beach, arrested a family of car thieves consisting of a father, Albino Rende, and his two sons Raymond Rende and Robert Darcy.
The arrest was the result of an on-going investigation into additional complaints of Odometer Fraud against the three men following their initial arrest back in late January. The new charges have been made through the State Attorney Offices in Martin and Palm Beach Counties.
In addition to Title Fraud, a 3rd degree felony, two of the men were arrested for a number of 1st and 3rd degree felony charges ranging from Organized Scheme to Defraud to Grand Theft. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the family had been committing these types of fraud for many years—nearly one hundred cases were identified as possible fraud cases.
Thanks to the solid police work of Corporal Caserta, the illegal father and son odometer fraud operation is out of business!
