You Drink, You Drive…You Lose

Drunk drivers will be checked on I-75 Motorists along the Interstate 75 corridor will soon notice some different “Outdoor Advertising Billboards” aimed at combating drunken or drugged driving. Beginning Friday, September 26, 2003, a series of three billboards developed by a University of Florida college student will be erected on Interstate 75 in the Gainesville and Lake City areas.

'Get the Picture' tells it all.Scott Polinek with Lamar Advertising of Ocala, contacted Lieutenant Mike Burroughs about a proposal to erect several billboards warning motorists about the dangers of drinking and driving.

A University of Florida student majoring in Photography approached Lamar Advertising about using a series of shots he took that use a time-lapse procedure to depict the dangers of drunken or drugged driving. Scott sent Lt. Burroughs the designs to review. After brainstorming and adding a few tag lines, these billboards are the final results.

DUI is NOT a Victimless Crime The Florida Highway Patrol expresses their appreciation to the University of Florida’s Photography Department and to the student who initiated the project.

The Florida Highway Patrol would also like to thank Scott Polinek and Lamar Advertising for assisting the Florida Highway Patrol in this campaign of public awareness against drunken and drugged driving.
