CIP Is On the Warpath
St. Johns – While working an intensified traffic detail on I-95, Trooper Jason Lemery stopped a 2003 Ford Taurus with New Jersey tags for unlawful speed and following too closely. The driver appeared extremely nervous and gave strange trip plans, causing Troopers Lemery and Davis to become suspicious.
Trooper Davis walked K-9 Jewels around the Ford, where the dog alerted to the left front of the car. A search of the vehicle revealed 112 grams of cocaine concealed in the air breather under the filter. The driver was arrested and booked into the St. Johns County Jail.
The driver is an Israeli National in the U.S. on a passport. Border Patrol in Jacksonville and FDLE were contacted to investigate the suspect’s immigration status and assist in the post arrest investigation.
Ft. Myers – While working a traffic stop for unlawful speed on SR-91, Trooper Jason Eason pulled over the driver of a 2003 Nissan Altima. Because the driver had an expired Jamaican driver’s license and no valid Florida license, he was arrested.
Trooper Eason conducted a search of the vehicle, discovering a shopping bag that contained three green cellophane wrapped bundles of marijuana. The passenger in the vehicle was then also arrested. The estimated value of this drug seizure is $7,450.
St. Lucie – Another routine traffic stop yielded a significant cocaine bust in which the suspect was arrested for drug trafficking, fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, possession of cocaine (more than 28 grams), and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
Manatee County – A case initiated by Trooper Jason Eason on a 1996 Freightliner tractor-trailer revealed that the driver, who was stopped for failing to maintain a single lane on State Road 64, was found to have no driver’s license – only an identification card. A search of his vehicle yielded a stash of marijuana in a duffle bag hidden in the cab of the truck.
