Trammell Receives Meritorious Service Medal
President George W. Bush has awarded the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal to Captain Mark Trammell of the United States Coast Guard for exceptionally meritorious achievement and superior performance of duties for the period of September 2001 through March 2002.
Colonel Chris Knight and DHSMV Executive Director Fred Dickinson recently presented the award to Captain Trammell at a Troop Commanders meeting in Tallahassee.
Captain Trammell, FHP Bureau of Investigations, is also a Captain in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. He was recalled to active duty in September 2001 in support of Operation Noble Eagle just after the terrorist attacks on New York City and the Pentagon.
As Chief of the Eighth Coast Guard District Homeland Security Staff in New Orleans, Trammell immediately assumed a crucial role in directing maritime security efforts and setting maritime security policy for a District that includes all or part of 26 states, protects 1,200 miles of coastline and 10,300 miles of inland waterways, and boasts seven of the Nation’s busiest ports.
Congratulations to Captain Trammell on this significant award!
