Teddy Bears for Crash Victims

Mrs. Sheila Tindle delivering a supply of teddy bears to Sgt. Brannan (left) and Trooper CogginsThe Lakeland Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) collected hundreds of teddy bears to be given out to children by law enforcement officers during catastrophic events.

Shown here is Mrs. Sheila Tindle (wife of Trooper Bill Tindle, Jr.) of the UDC delivering a supply of teddy bears to FHP Sgt. R. B. Brannan (left) and Trooper L. E. Coggins, Jr.

A supply of bears will be carried on board every Lakeland FHP patrol car and will be given to children involved in crashes and other tragic incidents investigated by the FHP. The Lakeland District was chosen by the UDC due to Lakeland’s high number of crashes and traffic homicides.
