Seminole Expressway Opened

FHP Personnel participating in the eventThe Patrol’s Mobile Command Center and a Chevrolet Camaro patrol carThe Florida Highway Patrol was well represented at the grand opening of the Seminole Expressway on Saturday, September 14, 2002. The Patrol’s Mobile Command Center and a Chevrolet Camaro patrol car were among a variety of transportation displays.

 About 2,000 people enjoyed the event, which included a pancake breakfast sponsored by Cracker Barrel Restaurant, and a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring several local and state politicians. Following the ribbon cutting, there were fireworks, prize giveaways, and a concert by Jacqueline Jones.

cell phone safety exhibitMajor Carpenter, Trooper Thompson, Captain Jones, and Lt. SantangeloVerizon Wireless joined the FHP with a cell phone safety exhibit, and distributed 500 hands free ear buds to the public. FHP coloring books, key chains, and pens were given to children visiting the FHP exhibit.

 Major Rick Carpenter, Trooper Charlotte Thompson, Captain Paulette Jones, and Lt. Pat Santangelo, along with other members of the Patrol and Auxiliary, participated in the event.
