Nardiello Receives Belated Award

Colonel Knight, Trooper Nardiello and Major Guzman Trooper Richard Nardiello, Troop L – Davie, recently received the prestigious Hurd-Smith award from Colonel Chris Knight and Troop L Commander, Major Miguel Guzman.

The Hurd-Smith award is presented each year in the memory of Troopers Kimberly Hurd and Robert Smith, to the Trooper with the most DUI arrests in the state for that calendar year. Troopers Hurd and Smith annual members of the “DUI 100 Club,” were both killed in the line of duty by drunk drivers.

Normally these awards are presented in a beautiful ceremony on the steps of the old Capitol in Tallahassee with all recipients of the 100 Club. However, Trooper Nardiello was called to active duty in the U.S. Navy and was unable to attend the ceremony. He has just returned to normal duties and was presented his awards at Troop L’s recent troop meeting. Trooper Nardiello arrested 181 drunk drivers in the year 2000 – more than any other trooper!

Trooper Nardiello also received the Mothers Against Drunk Driving “100 Club” award for arresting more than 100 drunk drivers.

Congratulations Trooper Nardiello and keep up the good work!! We’re glad you are back!!
