Knit Wits Donate Care Bears

Trooper Sandra Bailey of Orlando receiving her promotion to Sergeant. The Knit Wits, a knitting club in Lakeland, recently donated bunches of “Care Bears” to the Florida Highway Patrol Lakeland district. These plush little teddy bears—all wearing specially knitted clothing—will be given to FHP troopers to pass along to small children who are involved in traffic crashes.

Pictured: Lt. Sterling King, Troop C Public Affairs Officer, meets with a few members of the Knit Wits, along with their collection of dressed up Care Bears.

It is hoped that these special little bears will help calm the fears of these children, and bring smiles to their faces during a time of crisis.

The Florida Highway Patrol would like to offer a special thank you to Ruby Stegeman, president of the Knit Wits and mother of Tampa Duty Officer, Mitch Brenner. We appreciate the efforts of all the people in the club who took the time to knit these little outfits and donate these special care bears for the children.
