FHP Shows Support for Trucking Industry

Chief Gregory, FTA President Brantley, Colonel Knight, and Lt. Colonel Austin. The Florida Trucking Association recently held its annual “Truckers Day at the Capitol” in order to make Legislators and citizens aware of the dangers of driving in truckers’ blind spots. A special “No-Zone” truck was parked in the Capitol Courtyard, and a marked Florida Highway Patrol vehicle was parked next to it.

Legislators and visitors to the Capitol were invited into the driver’s seat of the 18-wheeler so they could see for themselves how limited a truck driver’s view is when using the mirrors to look beside and behind the truck.

Shown, from left to right, are Chief Rick Gregory, FTA President Charles Brantley, Colonel Knight, and Lt. Colonel Larry Austin.
