FHP Receives Professional Recognition
The “reaccreditation” award was presented to Colonel Knight during a CALEA conference held in Jacksonville, Florida. In achieving this prestigious award the Patrol was found in compliance with 352 nationally recognized standards for law enforcement agencies.
The award follows an extensive on-site assessment by CALEA assessors that reviewed all aspects of the Patrol’s operations. The assessors, all law enforcement professionals, were chosen by CALEA and came from Connecticut, Ohio, and Missouri. The assessment consisted of a review of files prepared for each standard, tours of nine Patrol facilities, and comments received from citizens. In the course of their review of Patrol facilities, the assessors interviewed over 100 FHP employees and inspected all areas of operations for compliance with CALEA standards.
Shown in the photo above, taken at the award ceremony, from left to right, are Captain Richard Mechlin and Lieutenant Diane Russo, FHP accreditation team members, Colonel Chris Knight, Chief Kevin Guidry, Office of Inspections, and Major Grady Carrick, who represented Field Operations.
