Cops Wash Cars for Kids

Lieutenant Castleberry, FHP recruits, and law enforcement officers from local, state, and federal agenciesOn July 27, 2002, Lieutenant Ron Castleberry, FHP recruits, and law enforcement officers from local, state, and federal agencies in Tallahassee, gathered to participate in a car wash to benefit Cops For Kids. The money raised by the event will assist the organization in providing underprivileged children with clothing and school supplies for the upcoming academic year.

Cops For Kids was established in 1999 by North Florida law enforcement officers, including Chief Kevin Guidry, FHP Office of Inspections. The organization’s mission is to generate a positive relationship between law enforcement agencies and the youth within the Big Bend area. In past years, Cops For Kids has been able to impact over 300 children, as well as provide them with bicycles, helmets, clothing, and school supplies. It is apparent that with the support expressed by law enforcement agencies over the past four years, Cops For Kids will continue to remain successful in their endeavors.

Cops For Kids will also be holding their 2nd annual Cops “Fore” Kids fundraising golf tournament on August 26, 2002, at the Killearn Golf and Country Club in Tallahassee. The eighteen-hole tournament will begin with registration at 8:00 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. The $75.00 entry fee will cover course costs as well as a lunch buffet at the Country Club immediately following the tournament. There will be door prizes as well as special prizes for a hole in one, closest to the pin, and lowest score. All proceeds from this event will benefit Cops For Kids Tallahassee, Inc. For information concerning the golf tournament, please call Chief Kevin Guidry at 850-922-7387.
