Governor Frank Brogan attended the popular event along with Cabinet members. The event started with a Cabinet meeting at the City of Miami Commission Chambers and was followed by an Agency Fair at the Coconut Grove Exposition Center. At the Agency Fair, state agencies came prepared with public information, displays, and demonstrations to showcase their departments.

The Florida Highway Patrol was well represented at the event with Lieutenants Julio Pajon and Pat Santangelo, along with Troopers Charlotte Thompson and Charlie Harris, all of whom were there to promote FHP’s traffic safety programs. Approximately one thousand people visited the FHP booth where they found numerous traffic safety brochures, recruitment information, and safety promotional items such as coloring books, pencils, and cups. In addition, Verizon Wireless partnered with the FHP to promote safe cellular phone use while driving, and distributed hands-free devices to encourage people to keep their hands on the wheel while using their cell phones.

Miami’s Capital for a Day was a great success thanks to the efforts of all agencies involved.
