20th Annual Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service
On a recent gray and overcast day in Tallahassee, hundreds of law enforcement officers from throughout Florida gathered at the State Capitol to honor the memory of fellow law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty.
The Florida Highway Patrol’s Honor Guard prepares to march to the Capitol Courtyard where Governor Jeb Bush presided over the memorial service that honored six Florida law enforcement officers who made the supreme sacrifice in the year 2001. Four other police officers were also honored from past years.
As the service concluded, Taps was played and a 21-gun salute was given before the prayer ended with the words, “Well served good and faithful peace officer, may you rest in peace”.
