Memorial Monument Dedicated

Memorial MonumentOn Tuesday, December 5, 2001, a Memorial Monument honoring 37 troopers who have been killed in the line of duty was officially dedicated in Tampa at the Florida Highway Patrol Troop C Headquarters facility, by Colonel Christopher A. Knight. December 5th marked the 60th anniversary of the death of Trooper Luther P. Daniel, the Patrol’s first trooper killed in the line of duty on December 5, 1941.

Troopers salute fallen membersThe Memorial Monument is the culmination of over three years of hard work by a number of dedicated individuals, including Major Miguel Guzman, who spearheaded the project. The need for a Memorial Monument was realized following the tragic death of Trooper James B. Crooks on May 19, 1998.
