FHP Speaks out Against Racial Profiling

Chief AustinChief Larry Austin, Region 1 Bureau Chief, is shown speaking to the local news media about “Professional Traffic Stops” at a March 1st press conference held at the Tallahassee Police Department. The press conference was called by Tallahassee Police Chief Walter McNeil, along with ranking members of the FHP, Leon County Sheriff’s Department, FSU Police Department, and Capitol Police Department. The purpose of the event was to convey to the public the fact that law enforcement agencies in Florida do not tolerate their officers making traffic or other stops based on a driver’s skin color, economic status, gender, or national origin, a term commonly referred to as racial profiling.
