Corporal Bucher to become Sheriff Bucher

Fish Fry guestsCorporal Pete Bucher, Troop H, has been elected Sheriff of Madison County, effective January 2001.

On Friday, November 17, 2000, fellow officers, friends, and family gathered at the Madison FHP station for a good old fashioned fish fry to honor Bucher’s 29 years of service with the FHP.

Corporal Bucher (shown in the photo, standing, 6th from the right) thanked his wife, Gerri, for her support during his many years with the Patrol and also during his successful campaign for Sheriff. “I’m proud to have been given the opportunity that I’ve been given by the people of Madison County to serve them in the capacity of Sheriff,” Bucher told the crowd. He also added, “I’m looking forward to working closely with the Highway Patrol and doing a great job as Sheriff.”

Thanks, Pete, for your many years of exceptional service to the citizens of Florida, and good luck in your new assignment!
