FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, November 2, 2006
The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles will have its’ FLOW (Florida Licensing on Wheels) mobile at the November 3 Downtown GetDown. It will be parked at the corner of Adams Street and College Avenue. Hancock Bank will pay for the first 100 children identification cards, which are normally $3.
Children 5 or older are eligible. They must bring their original or a certified copy of their birth certificate and a second form of identification, such as a social security card, to receive the ID.
Once an ID is issued, the parents can then go to our website at www.flhsmv.gov and enter emergency contact information. This new system is designed to give law enforcement officials immediate access to contact information in the event of an emergency. We will have computer terminals available for parents to enter this information on site.
The Florida Highway Patrol will also be on hand with vehicles and equipment to show children (and adults) the dangers of not using a seat belt and drinking and driving.
