FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, June 14, 2007
Tallahassee - The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is pleased to announce that its Florida Licensing On Wheels (FLOW) mobile is bringing it’s services directly to citizens of Duval County, as it participates at the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ 77th Departmental Convention in Jacksonville.
DHSMV’s FLOW mobile will offer the following services: driver license renewals up to 18 months prior to expiration; duplicate driver license; driver license name and address changes; identification card; vehicle registration and tag renewals; and disabled parking permits.
The Department is encouraging parents to obtain a State of Florida identification card for their children between the ages of 5 and 17. Having a Florida ID for a child allows law enforcement immediate access to information on the child, including their picture, which is critical during an emergency or an investigation.
FLOW staff will also provide driver license and ID card holders the opportunity to enter emergency contact information into a secure database accessible only to law enforcement. This is another critical tool used by law enforcement officials in cases like a serious traffic accident where an emergency contact, especially family members, needs to be notified.
The cost of an original ID card is $3.00 – duplicates are $10.00. Parents will need to bring an original or certified copy of the child’s birth certificate and a second form of identification, such as a social security card.
