Tallahassee - The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV), in support of Governor Charlie Crist’s Executive Order 07-01 and in honor of Florida's Government in the Sunshine Week, announces a new feature on the agency's Web site that provides expanded information, allowing customers to more easily obtain public records from the agency.
The Governor's first Executive Order created the Office of Open Government to ensure government operates in accordance with Florida's Sunshine Laws. As Government in the Sunshine Week comes to an end, DHSMV is making sure access to available public records does not. The Web site includes links to commonly requested information, as well as information about how to request further public-record information by e-mail if needed.
“I take very seriously our responsibility to provide the people of Florida customer friendly access to public information,” said Governor Crist. “I applaud the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for taking action to ensure our citizens have the access to the public records they need.”
“We are committed to being responsive to customer requests and facilitating access to available information,” said Electra Bustle, Executive Director. “These improvements will allow us to be more transparent and accountable in handling requests.”
