Cookies are small text files sent from a web site to a user's PC for use by that web site. Cookies are quickly becoming an industry standard for how Internet or web systems maintain "state". State is the term used to describe how a web site recognizes and distinguishes your session from other web site visitors' sessions.
A typical use of a cookie is by an e-commerce web site. Some major commerce sites prompt you for the information stored on the cookie, such as your name and e-mail address. Some sites that require a login ID and password may prompt you for the information to save you keystrokes during subsequent visits. Other cookie information may contain your site preferences such as whether you prefer frames or graphics. DHSMV's cookies, however, only contain generic information used for page navigation and do not contain any of these types of information.
Thank you for taking the time to read this information.
