2012 Duty Officers of the Quarter




January through March | Duty Officer Ken Pittman

Congratulations to Duty Officer Ken Pittman on his selection as the Florida Highway Patrol Duty Officer of the Quarter, January through March 2012.

Duty Officer Pittman showed his training and skill while handling the radio traffic and a substantial amount of phone calls coming in regarding a multivehicle traffic crash. Pittman kept his cool during the rapidly changing incident and appropriately delegated his co-workers to make vital notifications. Pittman put officer safety first by quickly relaying critical information to the first responding units.

Pittman’s work ethic, professional knowledge, patience and common sense make him an asset to his section and to the Jacksonville Regional Communications Center.


April through June | Duty Officer Michael Davis

Congratulations to Duty Officer Michael Davis for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Duty Officer of the Quarter, April through June 2012.

On April 26, Davis answered a call from an anonymous caller, who claimed to know the location of a suspect, named Chris Reinhart. Police suspect him for a double homicide and other charges.

During the initial conversation with the caller, Davis was unable to find the suspect’s name, “Reinhart”. However, he continued to research FHP’s databases and found the true name of the suspect, which was Christopher Reichstein. Based on the caller’s tip, troopers found and arrested the suspect.

His work professional knowledge and common sense make Davis a true asset to his section and to the Tampa Regional Communications Center. The Department congratulates him for earning the honor of Florida Highway Patrol Duty Officer of the Quarter for April through June 2012.


July through September | Duty Officer Michael Davis

Congratulations to Duty Officer Michael Davis for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Duty Officer of the Quarter, July through September 2012.

On Aug. 8, Davis received a call from a worried mother trying to locate her adult daughter from out of state. Without hesitation, Davis created a service call and sent out a message to all law enforcement agencies to do welfare check should they make contact with the daughter.

Davis continued to search for the rental vehicle, the name of the person who rented the vehicle. He also worked with Verizon to “ping” or find her last location. After three hours, Davis located the daughter and the man she was with.

Davis worked with the Tampa Police Department, which contacted the daughter.

His work ethic, professional knowledge, dedication and perseverance make Davis a true asset to the Tampa Regional Communications Center. The Department congratulates him for earning the honor of Florida Highway Patrol Duty Officer of the Quarter for July through September 2012.
