The Florida Highway Patrol mobile breath alcohol testing unit is equipped with portable breath testing equipment. It is capable of being set up at various locations for the purpose of processing individuals arrested for the offense of driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
Four (4) of these units are assigned to various FHP field troops throughout Florida. They are used at:
- Comprehensive roadside sobriety checkpoint operations.
- In conjunction with intensified DUI enforcement efforts.
- Assisting city and county law enforcement agencies with enforcement efforts.
The FHP mobile breath alcohol testing units are equipped with the following:
- Intoxilyzer 5000 series Breath Testing Instrument.
- Video recorder and monitor.
- Camera tripod.
- Cellular telephone.
- Two-way radio.
- Portable floodlights.
- Unit mounted floodlights.
- Electric generator.
- Temporary prisoner holding facility.
