Direct the day to day operational activities of the Florida Highway Patrol. This position is responsible for overseeing all law enforcement operations as well as insuring that the statutory responsibilities of the Patrol are being met. To serve as acting Director when so designated. Also responsible for Aircraft Operations, FHP Auxiliary and Reserve Programs, Contraband Interdiction, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Operations. as well as the Division's asset forfeiture program. In addition, this position coordinates mutual aid requests as well as the division's communications operations.

Deputy Director for Special Operations

Direct the operations of special and administrative support for the Florida Highway Patrol to include serving as acting Director in the Director's absence. This position is responsible for the following functions: Personnel, including promotions and reassignments; FHP Training, Academy and all related training; program planning and statistical record keeping; fleet and property purchases and maintenance; preparation and oversight of the FHP budget; statewide communications system; coordination of legislative initiatives; oversight of FHP Auxiliary, Aircraft Operations and contract negotiations.

Direct the Florida Highway Patrol special operations function by overseeing the division's human resource programs including all personnel assignments, transfers, promotions, appeals and grievances, as well as coordinating all disciplinary actions with Criminal Justice Standards and Training; monitor affirmative action progress for the division; participate in budget process and the allocation of resources; serve as principal lobbyist for the Patrol on issues affecting highway safety and law enforcement; serve as a member of the state's bargaining team during contract negotiations; oversee the Patrol's fleet and property section; oversee the administration of the statewide communications system; aircraft operations; policy development; serve as Acting Deputy Director for Special Operations when necessary. Provide oversight in the command of Troop H; serve as staff commander during natural disasters.

Direct the activities of 15 sworn officers in the daily operation of the Orlando District Florida Highway Patrol. Assisted officers in their duties, providing guidance and training where needed.

Florida Highway Patrol, Dade City Florida

In addition to law enforcement responsibilities, conduct extensive investigations in traffic crashes where fatal injuries had been sustained. Complete a two-week homicide investigator school at the FHP Training Academy. Provide expert testimony in criminal trials relating to crash reconstruction.

January, 1966 to November, 1970

Florida Highway Patrol, Moore Haven, Florida

Performed all related duties as they pertain to law enforcement within the mission of the Florida Highway Patrol. Enforcing traffic laws, investigating traffic crashes, assisting motorists in distress, notifying next of kin, testifying in court, and assisting local law enforcement where necessary.

MILITARY EXPERIENCE:

United States Air Force, Honorably Discharged

Performed duties relating to the monitoring of communist forces in the Republic of China while stationed in Taiwan. Intercepted Morse Code which assisted surveillance flights in their operations. Reassigned to Strategic Air Command (2 years) to perform duties relating to the scheduling of mid-air refueling.
