Crackdown On Illegal Handicap Parking At Pepsi 400
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Florida Highway Patrol is launching a crackdown for race car fans. Friday, troopers plan to patrol handicapped parking lots at the Daytona International Speedway, as officials gear up for this weekend's Pepsi 400.
The enforcement began at 6:00am. Troopers assigned to the detail will monitor each vehicle that is attempting to enter the gates with a disabled parking permit displayed.
The FHP will once again conduct vehicle checkpoints at Daytona International Speedway to monitor and enforce the proper display of handicapped parking permits. In the past, troopers have received numerous complaints from disabled drivers about race fans who illegally take their parking spots.
Drivers need to be prepared for traffic delays in the right lane on US-92 at gate 25 and on Midway Avenue at gates 70 and 50 in the right lane as troopers will be stopping each vehicle to check the credentials presented by drivers.
Violators will be issued a notice to appear with a mandatory court date and seizure of the disabled parking permit. Enforcement will be conducted on July 6 and July 7.
