N. Lauderdale man accused of trying to run over trooper
NORTH LAUDERDALE -- A North Lauderdale man was accused of trying to use his motorcycle to run down a Florida Highway Patrol trooper in Palm Beach County, authorities said Wednesday.
Trooper Robert Boody tried to pull over John C. Klippel, 19, on Tuesday night after clocking him traveling more than 100 mph on a 2005 Honda motorcycle near the intersection of Lake Worth Road and U.S. 441, according to the highway patrol.
When Boody caught up with Klippel, the teen tried to run him over with the motorcycle, causing minor injuries to Boody, the Highway Patrol said.
An unidentified female passenger who was riding on the back of Klippel's motorcycle fell off as he tried to hit Boody, the highway patrol said. She was treated at a hospital and released.
North Lauderdale police arrested Klippel just after 3:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Charges were expected to be filed against Klippel, said Sgt. Jorge Delahoz, a highway patrol spokesman. No other information was immediately available.
