Trooper Hurt During Traffic Stop

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A driver is facing a number of charges on Tuesday after allegedly running over the foot of a Florida Highway Patrol trooper.

The charges include aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, WESH 2 News reported.

Officials with FHP said Trooper Jacob Vaughn stopped Roger Nicholas Jr. for a minor traffic violation. Officials said Nicholas became verbally abusive and got into a fight with Vaughn before driving off and running over the trooper's foot.

Nicholas was captured after a brief pursuit.

Investigators said Nicholas had an outstanding warrant for possession of cocaine. Vaughn should be OK.
