Study Shows Many Young Adults Don't Wear Seatbelts
Not wearing your seat belt can be a fatal mistake. Lieutenent Mike Burroughs of the Florida Highway Patrol says this trend of not wearing your seat belt seems to be most popular among people ages 19 to 25. Lieutenent Burroughs reports 58 to 77 percent of the time seat belts will reduce the severity of a car crash. In order to encourage young adults to wear their seat belt, Burroughs says we must reach out to the places where they spend most of their time, including the internet and sporting events. He says it's time to take the matter into our own hands. To put it in perspective, more people in the nation have died from not wearing their seat belt than have been lost in any foreign war.
