Biketoberfest Safety
Three bikers have died during the first day Biketoberfest. The Florida Highway Patrol says it is not taking any more chances when it comes to safety.
FHP has added 25 state troopers to Volusia County's rural highways.
Troopers are spreading out across I-95, U.S. 1, and State Roads 415, 44, and 40. They will be on patrol for everything this weekend, including trick riding, speeding and drunk driving.
Troopers are also reminding other drivers to watch out.
Lieutenant Kevin Vaughn said, "If you would please be courteous to motorcycles, just because it's a motorcycle, doesn't mean it can stop in shorter amount of time than a car could. Be courteous, give them [the right of] way they are the smaller vehicle."
The added patrols will last through Biketoberfest, which ends Sunday.
