Letter to the Editor: Be on the lookout for fairness
Regarding fair pay, with all the talk about teachers and emergency medical technicians, etc., and affordable housing, what about our Florida Highway Patrol?
They are one of the most highly trained and dedicated departments in the state and the most underpaid. Very few can live on their salary. Almost all of them must take on a second job to make ends meet while the state is bragging about the surplus budget.
How about paying these professionals a living wage? Maybe they should hire a lobbyist like all the special-interest groups — but they are too professional and dedicated.
Please call or write your state representatives and encourage them to give these dedicated people a living wage.
