FHP Trooper Run Over During Stop

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was seriously injured Friday when he was run over during a routine traffic stop, according to Local 6 News.

Police said a driver gave fake information to an officer during a traffic stop on Colonial Drive at McGuire Road at 1 a.m. Friday.

When the trooper tried to arrest the driver, he began to drive off and hit the trooper, according to authorities.

Deputies found the abandoned car a short distance away.

The trooper was expected to recover from his injuries.
