FHP trooper resuscitates 5-year-old boy

MANATEE - An off-duty Florida Highway Patrol trooper helped resuscitate a 5-year-old boy having a seizure at DeSoto Square mall Thursday night.

Trooper Michael Sutherland, who was doing security work detail at Dillard's at about 8:16 p.m., saw the boy and performed CPR on him until paramedics arrived, said FHP Lt. John Tower.

The boy was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital, he said.
