Troopers arrest two on cocaine charges in St. Lucie County
Two Broward County men were held Tuesday in the St. Lucie County Jail after Florida Highway Patrol troopers reportedly found about 49 pounds of cocaine in a Honda they were traveling in on Florida's Turnpike, according to reports and a jail official.
A trooper stopped the 1998 Honda Accord about 2 miles south of the Port St. Lucie Boulevard exit Monday after noticing that it appeared to have excessive window tint and after the driver allegedly failed to use a turn signal when changing lanes.
The driver, Armando A. Guzman-Cirino, 27, of Fort Lauderdale, reportedly allowed troopers to search the vehicle, and they found an "extremely heavy" canvas bag in the trunk.
When a trooper asked passenger Ricky Agosto, 33, of Lauderdale Lakes, why the bag was so heavy, he reportedly said because it contained cocaine. Inside, investigators found packages of the drug.
Both men were arrested and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail.
