Coley was proud of law enforcement comrades
Letter to the Editor:
The recent death of my brother-in-law, Rep. David Coley, was tragic, to say the least. During this time numerous law enforcement officers assisted in making this time a little more bearable by providing support to the family. Not only safe motorcades and vigilant security, but kind words, an arm to lean on, a salute of a passing procession, a handshake, kind words or tears on a uniform. David dearly loved all of his brothers and sisters in law enforcement and all of them responded in kind. It will not be forgotten.
Col. Knight did a wonderful thing with David's promotion to Florida Highway Patrol colonel. Even though awarded posthumously, I'm sure it was the highlight of his service to the FHP Auxiliary. David loved the highway patrol.
Actions speak louder than words and the actions of every state, county and local officer during this time rang true throughout the community, a testament to the values David Coley stood for and what every officer stands for.
May God bless and keep all law-enforcement professionals from harm.
