Semi passenger faces pot charge

A passenger in a tractor-trailer was arrested yesterday after the Florida Highway Patrol found 200 pounds of marijuana in a vehicle being transported on the semi to Jacksonville from California.

An additional five pounds of pot and an automatic pistol also were discovered inside the semi cab, FHP spokesman Bill Leeper said.

Two men were heading east on Interstate 10, about three miles west of U.S. 301, when the driver was pulled over for speeding, Leeper said.

The passenger, Willie Earl Robinson, who worked for McCall Auto Transport in Jacksonville, was charged with armed trafficking in marijuana. He also had a fraudulent driver's license, Leeper said. Robinson was taken to the Duval County jail.

The driver, who did not work with Robinson, was unaware the marijuana was being transported and was only given a speeding ticket, Leeper said
