The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a group that is telephoning area residents and asking about their driving records, officials said.
Troopers said Thursday that the people who have received such calls were told they were eligible for benefits. But on at least two occasions, agents never showed up for appointments, said FHP Lt. Sonya Karasek. Some people were told a driver's license would be delivered to them, Karasek said.
Residents who receive similar requests are asked to safeguard their information, get as much information about the caller as possible and contact Karasek at 484-5000, ext. 112.
