A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after he was struck by a car while investigating a one-vehicle accident on the turnpike south of Jupiter on Monday night, officials said.
Trooper Brian Hearn was training with trooper Robert Boody at the scene of the accident about a mile south of Jupiter at about 7 p.m. when a four-door Mitsubishi lost control and spun into one of the troopers' cruisers, according to trooper Ben Fargo.
That cruiser struck another FHP cruiser in front of it, and the second cruiser ran into Hearn and the wrecked pickup, Fargo said. Hearn was knocked into the bed of the pickup.
Hearn and the driver of the Mitsubishi, Nancy Corey, 51, of Stuart, were taken to Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center with minor injuries, Fargo said.
No arrests have been made, but FHP is still investigating, Fargo said. The Mitsubishi
