New Troopers To Go To Work In Bay Area

TAMPA - The Florida Highway Patrol graduated 46 new troopers this week and eight will go to work in the Tampa Bay area. The 107th Recruit Class of the Florida Highway Patrol Training Academy in Tallahassee graduated Thursday, said patrol spokesman Larry Coggins.

Coggins said the new troopers will begin working Aug. 13. He said the eight troopers who will work in Troop C, which covers Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Sumter, Citrus, Polk and Hernando counties, will join 200 who currently patrol those areas.

The new troopers completed 26 weeks of physical, practical and classroom training, Coggins said.

The Lakeland District will receive four new troopers, three will report to the Land 'O Lakes District in Pasco County and one will work in the Tampa District, Coggins said.
