The Florida Highway Patrol has released new evidence from a fatal hit-and-run incident that killed a Navarre man in August and is searching for two vehicles involved in the incident.
According to the Highway Patrol, Richard R. Roberts, 32, was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife, Jennifer, about 1:50 a.m. Aug. 2. During the dispute, Roberts was standing in the outside westbound lane of U.S. 98 near Larker Woods Drive when he was hit.
Initial investigation indicated Jennifer Roberts' car hit him, but evidence indicates that was not the case, Florida Highway Patrol investigator Cpl. Nancy Recicar said,
Recicar believes two cars hit him consecutively, possibly at high speeds.
``He was either walking home or for some reason was in the roadway,'' Recicar said. ``We don't know why he was there. We're trying to get witnesses or someone who might have seen something that night.''
Debris from the scene and other evidence determined the colors of the two vehicles are medium blue (possibly refinished) and medium gray (primer).
Anyone with information about the incident should call Santa Rosa Crime Stoppers at 437-7867 or the Highway Patrol at 484-5000 ext. 315.
