Florida Law Enforcement: 'Click It Or Ticket!'

State Cracks Down On Drivers Not Bucked Up

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- State law enforcement authorities are issuing their annual warning to motorists for the Memorial Day travel period, saying: "Click It Or Ticket!"

That's the name of the annual campaign aimed at cracking down on motorists who don't buckle up.

Authorities responded to a mock accident in Tallahassee Tuesday to illustrate the serious injuries that a person can receive in a mishap if they are not wearing a seat belt.

From May 24 through June 6, the Florida Highway Patrol and nearly every local law enforcement agency in Florida will take part in the effort to get people to buckle up.

If a motorist is stopped and is not buckled up, he or she will be ticketed for not wearing their seat belt.

Not wearing a seat belt is considered a secondary offense, which means you can't be stopped only for not wearing the safety belt.
