Hello Colonel Brierton.
I wanted to take a minute to let you know of an interaction I had with Sergeant Quentin Mills, ID 1250, on Wednesday, June 19, 2012. I was driving a friend's daughters to a casting call in North Miami Beach when I got a flat tire. I pulled over to the side of the road and attempted to change it myself as I had observed my husband do this many times. I was unable to, however, since there was a missing piece that I needed to lift the jack. I contacted FHP to request Road Ranger services. A little while later, I observed a trooper pull up behind me and thought he was just there for the purposes of ensuring we were safe as I had told the dispatcher I had two small children with me.
Sergeant Mills approached the vehicle, was very cordial, and offered to assist us. He immediately said he would change the tire and did so. He was very safety conscious at all times, ensuring my safety as I exited the vehicle. He spoke to each of the girls in the car and was very friendly with all of us.
I took the time to write this email because I worked in criminal justice system for over 20 years, primarily in corrections but I know that in this day and age public service goes out the window because of more critical needs in the community. It was a surprise and pleasure to have this officer assist us and it was not as his civic duty but he appeared to genuinely desire to help us. I thanked him several times and would like you to again let him know how thankful we were that he came to our rescue.
Thank you for your time.
